Vitae whose mission is to lead world class career and professional development of researchers, is the first EURAXESS Career Development Centre. Janet is the project coordinator for a Horizon 2020-funded project EURAXIND supporting researchers and institutions to engage with businesses. She leads on the implementation of the UK Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers (UK equivalent to the European Charter and Code) and the UK process for the HR Excellence in Research Award.
She was a member of the MSCA Advisory Group (2013 -17) and an expert on the ERA–SGHRM Working Groups on the Open Science Rewards (2016-17) and the Professional Development of Researchers and the European Framework for Research Careers (2013-15). She currently sits on the Royal Society Diversity Committee and the QAA Postgraduate Research Advisory Group.
She manages two large scale biennial surveys of researchers’ experiences: the Careers in Research Online Survey (CROS) and the Principal Investigators and Research Leaders Survey (PIRLS). She works internationally with research institutions and funders to create professional development programme and training for researchers at all stages of their research career.
