Molina, Antonio

Director of the Center for Biotechnology and Plant Genomics (CBGP) since 2016.
Antonio Molina is currently Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Department of Biotechnology-Plant Biology of the UPM.

He has been Director of the Biotechnology and Biotechnology Departments of Plant Biology of the UPM (2012-2015), Secretary of CBGP (2007-2011), and Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Biotechnology and Genetic Resources of Plants and Associated Microorganisms of UPM. He is an expert representative of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) in the National Biosafety Commission (CNB) and Advisor to the State Research Agency. In addition, he is a member of the Ethics Committee of the UPM.

Dr. Molina’s group’s research activity at CBGP focuses on the study of Plant Immunity and its applications to crop protection.
He has developed an intense activity of innovation and technological transfer of Plant Biotechnology in collaboration with national and international companies. Co-founder of PlantResponse Biotech SL (PRB) and currently Chairman of its Scientific Advisory Board.

Degree in Biological Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) and Doctor of Biological Sciences from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM).
