Antó, Josep María

Scientific Director of Isglobal (Barcelona Institute for Global Health).
He has been working at the IMIM (Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute) (1988-2005) as Chair of the Respiratory and Environmental Health Research Unit (1996-2005) and Director (2004-2005). He has been Director of the CIBER Epidemiología y Salud Pública (2007-2010). He has been Principal Visiting Fellow at the National Heart and Lung Institute (1994, London, UK). Since 1998 he is Professor of Medicine at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) where he has served as Vice-rector for Research (2002-2004). Since 2005 he is currently the Director of Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL). In 2015 was appointed as scientific director of ISGlobal as part of the merging process between ISGlobal and CREAL. His main research areas focuses on the epidemiology of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, with special interest in environmental determinants and the prevention of these diseases.

He received his Degree in Medicine in 1975 and PhD in 1990 (Epidemiological investigations of epidemics of Asthma, Extraordinary Award) from the the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona
